Santa Dash Race Report

Yesterday, on a rather mild December morning, we gathered at Wyre Forest for our second ever Santa Dash. The course, which is just shy of a mile, takes in it’s fair share of hills and mud and this year we had 14 runners taking part – including the kids, dads, mums and this year – a grandad!

It was the dads race that was most fiercely contested this year with Dave (Maia’s Dad) keen to hold on to his title from last year.  He was pushed all the way by Steve (Aran’s Dad) and our very own Dan, with the pace really picking up through the final stretch. A relieved Dave was first home, delighted to win for the second year in a row, with Steve and Dan not far behind.  All three of them had finished in around the 5 minute 30 mark – hardly worth getting out of bed for!!!

danIt wasn’t long before Alfie and Aran returned home, closely followed by Lucas and Isaac who also had fast finishes. Alfie hadn’t even got his breath back before his Grandad was hurtling across the finish line and closely behind him was our first female Amaya, finishing in just over 7 minutes.  The children were now finishing thick and fast with Jenson, Matthew, Steve (Matthew & Dan’s dad), Ozzy and Maia all successfully completing the hilly course.

The biggest cheer of the day went to Chris (Dan’s Mum) who was the third and final female to finish!

Everyone received a certificate for their efforts and all children got to choose a mystery prize from the prize table (although adults weren’t eligble for this! Maybe next year!). The Santa Dash sums up another succesful year of Tri Energy Kids where children florish and great friendships are formed. We missed those who couldn’t make it – we hope to see you next year. Thanks to all parents who came to cheer and helped marshal!

All that’s left to do is wish you all a very merry Christmas and say watch out for 2016 – a year which will see us host our own event and have our own team trisuits! Watch this space!
